DMA 3600 Data-Driven Decisions

In this course, you’ll increase your knowledge of data analytics and its role in business decisions. You will learn about the processes and methods used by data analysts to determine which data to collect for analysis. This will include an exploration of structured and unstructured data, data types and formats, and techniques for identifying and mitigating bias to ensure data credibility. You will also examine the crucial topics of data ethics and privacy, including how to access and extract data from databases, best practices for organizing and securing data, and the importance of responsible data management.

In the second half of the course, you will delve into the importance of data processing prior to conducting any analysis. You will be introduced to various methods for checking data integrity and techniques for cleaning data. The significance of having clean data will be emphasized, as well as basic SQL queries and their application in cleaning and transforming data. You will also learn how to verify data and appreciate the significance of data cleaning reports.
