Interactive Art Demonstration by Award-Winning Artist Mary Light at Upcoming LFAA Meeting

The Livingston Fine Arts Association (LFAA) is excited to announce a special interactive demonstration by renowned local artist Mary Light at its upcoming meeting on August 27th. Attendees will have the unique opportunity to witness and contribute to the creation of Mary Light’s final pastel piece, as she guides participants through her artistic process.

Mary Light, a celebrated artist from Howell, Michigan, will not only showcase her expertise in pastel work but also share valuable insights into her technique, including the use of underpainting with turpentine. Her demonstration promises to be an engaging and educational experience, offering interesting tips and techniques related to the pastel medium.

Mary Light is an accomplished artist whose works have earned her numerous awards and accolades, including the prestigious Artist of the Year title. Her diverse portfolio includes landscapes, seascapes, wildlife, and various nature subjects, reflecting her deep connection to the natural world. In addition to pastels, Mary works in oil and acrylic, accepting commissions and enjoying portraiture work. She is proudly represented by the Blue Heron Art Gallery in Elk Rapids, Michigan, and has held solo exhibitions throughout Livingston County.

Mary’s artistic influence extends to public spaces, with her murals gracing the walls of Trinity Health hospitals, Cleary University, and local libraries and restaurants. With a lifelong passion for art, Mary has honed her skills through numerous workshops led by well-known artists and enjoys plein air painting, particularly while traveling. Her philosophy of “Always take art supplies with you” speaks to her dedication to capturing the beauty of the world around her, wherever she may be.

In addition to her artistic achievements, Mary Light holds a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Madonna University, where she found art to be a relaxing and creative outlet throughout her demanding career.
