Cleary University is thrilled to announce the launch of the Arthur Secunda Immersive Experience, an exclusive two-day artistic workshop designed for high school students in grades 9-12. This enriching experience will be hosted at the Arthur Secunda Museum, located on Cleary University’s Howell campus.
Made possible by a generous grant from the Michigan Arts & Culture Council, the program offers students a unique opportunity to dive into the captivating world of Arthur Secunda, a renowned artist celebrated for his innovative mixed-media techniques. The workshop promises to ignite creativity and inspire students as they explore the intricacies of painting, collage, and printmaking under expert guidance.
Program Highlights
- Two-Day Workshop: Students will engage in a comprehensive program from 8:00 AM to 1:30 PM each day, featuring hands-on activities and creative exploration.
- Museum Tour: Participants will start their journey with an exclusive tour of the Arthur Secunda Museum, gaining inspiration from Secunda’s masterpieces.
- Artistic Exploration: Over the course of two days, students will brainstorm, plan, and create an original work of art, utilizing the techniques demonstrated.
- Technical Skill Development: The workshop will include demonstrations of key artistic techniques used by Secunda, allowing students to apply these methods to their own creations.
- Culminating Experience: The program will conclude with a critique and Q&A session, providing students with valuable feedback on their work.
Support and Accessibility
Thanks to the generous support of the Michigan Arts & Culture Council, this workshop is offered at no cost to participants. All art supplies, transportation from the high school, and lunch on both days will be provided. The experience is designed to be accessible and enriching, ensuring that students can fully immerse themselves in the creative process without any financial barriers.
Program Schedule:
- Day 1: Museum Tour, Concept Sketching, Technique Demonstration, and Sketch Transfer.
- Day 2: Final Work Sessions, Technique Refinement, Critique, and Wrap-Up.
Teachers are encouraged to schedule their classes for this transformative experience, which is available throughout September and October 2024. Space is limited, so early registration is recommended.
