Congratulations on your graduation from Cleary University! Commencement is quickly approaching, and we look forward to recognizing your degree completion at a meaningful ceremony at Cleary’s Lake Trust Stadium. This is the day we celebrate you!! To make this occasion as smooth as possible, we’d like to share some important details.

Given the state of the nation at this time, we must limit graduates to invite no more than two (2) guests to attend the ceremony in the stadium. We will have additional seating between the Stadium and Cleary Commons while we live-stream commencement to accommodate more guests. Commencement will occur rain or shine, so please dress accordingly!

Since Cleary is celebrating two commencements on the same day, we ask graduates and their guests to arrive no earlier than two hours before their ceremony. Late arrivals will not be able to walk in the procession or sit with their class, so please aim for that two-hours-early arrival time.

Due to limited on-campus parking, overflow parking is available at 140 Ice Den, 970 Grand Oaks Drive, Howell, across from the Cleary Wellness Center. We recommend that a driver drop off graduates and guests at the stadium main gate, and then park the car.

We recommend that drivers drop off graduates and other guests at the main gate of the stadium. Guests can go directly into the stadium, and graduates should go to the Wellness Center. Board members, faculty, and guest speakers go to the Chrysler building.

Undergraduate and Graduate students need to order their caps and gowns by April 24, 2021.

Cleary will pay for the cost of the gowns (and hoods). You will only pay for shipping and any additional items that you buy.

Bring your caps and gown to graduation that morning.

Here is the link to the cap and gown website:

Students will line up in the gym of the Wellness Center. Please leave your valuables with family or friends.

At about a half hour before the commencement starts, everyone will “process” to the Stadium.

Academic Excellence Medallion

We also recognize students who attain high scores on their Peregrine© Common Professional Component (CPC) exam with medallions.

As a measure of student academic achievement, we require all graduates at the baccalaureate level and the master’s level to take the Peregrine© CPC exam, which measures general business knowledge. The University uses this test to measure and improve curricula as well as to measure how well we are doing compared to other institutions. Although there is no minimum score required, the outcomes are important to the University as a comparison against national averages. If you are unable to attend the commencement ceremony and are awarded a medallion, it will be mailed to you during the week after the ceremony.

The results of the Peregrine© exam will be used to determine which students qualify for special honors. Students will receive medallions before our graduation ceremonies based on their scores. The honors are determined as follows:

  • Students who score in the top 10% (90th percentile and above) in the Cleary graduating class will be awarded a gold medallion.
  • Students who score in the top 11% – 20% (80th to 89th percentile) range in the Cleary graduating class will receive a silver medallion.
  • Students who score in the top 21% – 30% (70th to 79th percentile) range in the Cleary graduating class will receive a bronze medallion.
