Drew Maki is the second baseball coach at Cleary in the program’s history. Starting in June of 2021, Maki is the Head Coach of baseball, where he not only leads the team but also is responsible for recruiting players throughout the Midwest.
Maki has a long and impressive career in baseball that spans over 15 years as a coach. Before his position at Cleary, Maki was the pitching coach and recruiting coordinator for Northern Illinois University. He’s coached 21 MLB Draft Picks/signees throughout his career as a coach.
Maki has also coached for Eastern Michigan and Henry Ford Community College. Maki is a graduate of Grand Valley State University with a BS in Biology/Environmental Health, and earned a Master’s degree from Eastern Michigan University in Sport Management in 2019.
Maki says, “The athletic department and staff at Cleary are great. You can tell how much they support the program and want it to succeed.” He added on by saying, “I took this job with really high expectations about what we can achieve this year and the years to follow.”
